After acquiring its Indian subsidiary unit, Uninor, and losing thousands of its subscribers, Telenor is now eyeing the youth population. It has now launched its 4G services in the city of Amravati, Maharashtra.
Telenor 4G services are also available in Varanasi and Visakhapatnam. This makes Amravati the third city in India to have narrow band Telenor 4G on 1800 MHz band.
Please be informed that this narrow band can’t offer speeds like 50 Mbps that you are expecting, but it can very well offer consistent HSPA-like speeds.
Telenor 4G Tariffs
To sweeten the deal and lure more customers, Telenor is clubbing its 4G data packs with other goodies like reduced call rates.
As of now Telenor has launched 2 4G combo packs.
Rs. 147 4G data packs offers 1 GB 4G data, all local and STD calls at 25p/min and has a validity of 28 days. Another pack costs Rs. 247 and offers 2 GB 4G data along with reduced call rates (25p/min for all calls). It also has a validity of 28 days.
In case you are skeptic about these packs and then you can go for the trial pack which offers 100 MB 4G data for 1 day and costs Rs. 12.
Telecom Talk reports that Telenor 4G offers speeds of 2-3 Mbps, which according to us is way less than the 3G speed provided by the leading telecom operators. But then, this is available at half the price leaving us with no room to complain.
Telenor is also plans to launch its 4G services in other cities in Maharashtra where it has good number of operators.
It is worth noting that in April this year, Telenor lost 76,296 subscribers in Maharashtra as they ported to Idea Cellular. Offering better quality service at competitive prices is the only way to get them back.
If you have a phone supporting LTE Band #3 i.e. 1800 MHz band and stay in Amravati then it is time to take Telenor 4G for a spin. Just don’t forget to share your experience with us. Keep checking ITN for news on 4G rollout.
