Telenor is working as hard as it could for strengthening its 4G foothold as the Indian telecom market embraces for Jio 4G launch in August. Recently, Telenor 4G was launched in Anand, Gujarat, and now the telecom operator has launched its 4G services in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Telenor 4G operates in 6 telecom operators in the country and with the launch of its 4G services in Ranchi, it now has at least one 4G enabled city in its each telecom circle.
Telenor 4G plans in Ranchi are same as what it offers in other telecom circles. The trial 4G packs costs Rs. 11 and comes with 100 MB 4G data valid for 1 day. 1 GB 4G pack is priced at Rs. 149, and 2 GB 4G costs Rs. 249. Both these packs come with 28 days validity and offers reduced local and STD calling rates at 25p/min.
If you are an existing Telenor customer and wish to use 4G services then you can check if you phone is 4G compatible by sending an SMS to 59799 with details like brand<space>model. Then you can visit any Telenor store and buy a new 4G LTE SIM. To activate data you need to dial toll-free number 1925 or SMS “START” to 1925.
Please note that Telnor 4G is based on narrow-band LTE on 1800 MHz band. So it won’t provide very high speed like other 4G operators. It will offer you 3G-like speeds at an affordable price.
Idea Starts Offering More Data In All Circles
In an effort to gain more data subscribers and to counter the threat posed by the entry of Jio next month, Idea has in a sense slashed the prices of 2G, 3G, and 4G packs by offering up to 45% more data.
“Internet is one of the major drivers of the Indian economy and Digital India. We want to ensure that benefits of Internet are reaped conveniently by every individual, through our innovative, customised and affordable products. This will enable the Internet revolution and its impact to be felt in every part of the country,” said Mr. Sashi Shankar, CMO, Idea Cellular.
These revised pack would be valid across all circles starting today, 15 July 2016.
Earlier Idea was offering 75 MB data for Rs. 19 valid for 3 days, but now it will offer 110 MB data with same validity, which is 46.6% more. Now Rs. 22 data pack offering 65 MB 3G/4G data with 3 day validity will now offer 90 MB data with same validity. This translates to 38% more data.
This is just the beginning. Data tariff price wars are about to begin with the launch of Jio 4G. Stay tuned for more updates.
