The launch of Reliance Jio Fiber services might not be far away as the company has already started offering its services on a trial basis to select areas in Mumbai. It is worth noting that the company has already been offering its FTTH (Fiber To The Home) to select few housing societies in Mumbai and Pune, but it never expanded to other locations until now.

Those who already have this service would be able to enjoy free unlimited internet @ 100 Mbps for the next 3 months.

The fiber installation began in November last year, and is it gets finished the people in Mumbai would be able to subscriber to Jio Fiber services.

According to a report by India Today, Rushabh, a resident of Rahul Building on Walkeshwar Road, told that the Jio Fiber connectivity is already in place in the building and that the building residents are already using the fiber broadband services. Jio Fiber services has also been rolled out to Nepeansea Road, Mumbai.

Jio also plans to rollout this fiber network very soon to other metros as well including Delhi, Pune, and Chennai.

“This is on par with the most advanced wireline offerings anywhere in the world,” said Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries, while announcing the launch of its 4G services last year.

He also mentioned that the fiber services will offer up to 1 Gbps connectivity speed which is at par with what is being offered anywhere in the world.

Jio Fiber Plans & Availability

Those who can subscriber to Jio Fiber now will get free and unlimited services for the next 3 months with speeds varying between 70-100 Mbps. Such speed is more than enough to care of your any internet need be it video streaming or even virtual reality.

However, please note that while you can get free and unlimited monthly internet access with Jio Fiber, it is not totally free. You will have to pay Rs. 4,500 for the router at the time of installation.

As Reliance Jio is yet to announce the public launch of its Fiber broadband services there is no information on its tariff plans post the free usage period of 3 months. But we know for sure that Jio will price them very competitively like its 4G data packs.

We will not be surprised if announced the cheapest (cost per GB) fiber plans in India. Jio plays the game of high volume instead of high margin, so in the end customer end up paying the same amount that they are paying to their current operators, but are satisfied for getting several folds more benefits.
