Jio’s 4G network has now reached a new high of 7 lakh subscribers. Earlier the company was conducting network trials by offering Jio 4G connections only via its employee’s referral codes.
Now the telco has launched a dedicated website Jio.com for those who are interested in trying out its 4G services. Due to this the number of Jio subscribers have increased drastically to 7 lakh. All those who show their interest in trying out Jio’s 4G network but need to buy a LYF smartphone which would come bundled with unlimited 4G data and 4,500 minutes of voice calls for 3 months.
Jio’s 7 Lakh Subscribers Used 13 Peta Bytes Of 4G Data
According to the data accessed by IANS, Jio’s 7 lakh users have consumed a staggering 13 PB of data with the average consumption coming out to be 18.57 GB per subscriber.
An internal source also mentioned that Jio has overtaken the third largest telecom operator in terms of cumulative data usage.
“In Gujarat, for example, the third largest operator generates 1.5 million GB monthly, whereas we have generated 1.8 million GB,” said the source.
Jio has achieved this feat in its extended trial phase and as per the source, the telco would become the leading operator in terms of data usage well before its commercial launch.
“At this rate, we expect that by next month we will be the leading player in terms of subscriber data-use even before our full commercial launch. We expect to touch 2.5 million users and we are potentially looking at 50 million GB,” the source added.
I conducted a trial in Pune and found that Jio 4G (Network name- LoopMobile4G) is present even at those locations where you won’t get the 2G network of leading telcos.
