State-owned telecom operator MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited) is now offering its subscribers with double data offers which entitle them to get 12 GB data for Rs. 300. This translates to Rs. 25/GB making it one of the most lucrative data pack in the country.
MTNL is offering the double data as “Ek Pe Ek Free” offer to its subscribers in Mumbai. So MTNL users in Mumbai would get 6 GB extra data when they recharge their MTNL mobile number with Rs. 300 data pack.
A lot of leading telecom players especially those who have just launched their 4G networks (Vodafone and Idea) are offering these double data offers. Please note that this Ek Pe Ek Free is a limited time offer and would be valid from 1 July to 31 July 2016.
MTNL has launched this scheme as a part of its revival plan for becoming profitable again. The struggling telco also has to submit its revival plan to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) by August 2016.
MTNL’s revival plan would consist of measures to gain market share, network expansion, and cost optimization techniques. It also plans to partner with BSNL on a revenue sharing basis for getting mobile network equipment for Delhi and Mumbai. On the other hand, the fixed service network expansion would be performed with help from private telcos again on revenue sharing basis.
BSNL Introduces Unlimited Voice Calling For Broadband Combo Plans
BSNL is now offering its broadband subscribers who are using a combo plan costing more than Rs. 700/month with unlimited voice calling add-on.
As of now, these add-ons would be available exclusively in the SSAs of Haryana, Rajasthan, and MP.
The Rs. 24/month voice add-on pack would offer unlimited voice calls to any local number while another add-on pack of Rs. 98/month would offer unlimited (local+STD) voice calls to any number across the country.
The Condition: These add-on pack would be valid only for retail use and the going calls should be less than 300 unique numbers/month.
These promotional voice add-on packs are valid from 23 March 2016 for a period of 90 days in Faridabad and Gurgaon SSAs of Haryana, Jaipur SSA of Rajasthan, and Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur & Gwalior SSAs of MP circle.
These are really good add-on packs but sadly they won’t be available pan-India as BSNL plans to offers them only at those locations where there are similar offers from other telecom operators.
BSNL should be the one to introduce such offers at all places for bringing in a new revolution in the Indian telecom market but it seems to be following the private operators!
