Feeling the heat of the moment, and witnessing the regular launch of attractive voice and data packs, by its competitors, the state-led telecom operator, BSNL has now launched another plan that offers unlimited voice calls and some data to its subscriber at just Rs. 149/month.

It is worth noting that BSNL has earlier announced a similar plan but unlimited calling on that pack was restricted to only BSNL numbers across the country. However, this new pack offers unlimited voice calls for Rs. 149 per month along with 300 MB 3G data.

“BSNL has always been a front-runner in providing better and economical services to all their customers and this is one of the many such endeavours. Customers are coming forward to get our service which has helped our company increase our market share by 1 per cent since March 2015 even in these hyper competitive telecom services,” said Anupam Shrivastava, Chairman and Managing Director, BSNL.

What’s The Catch?

As it already sounds too good to be true, this BSNL packs would offer unlimited calls to any number (local or STD) in India restricted to just 30 mins/day. We are wondering they are calling it an unlimited calling plan when it is limited to just half an hour per day!

There Is A Similar Long-term Pack Too

If you want a pack with longer validity offering similar benefits then BSNL has got you covered. You will get similar voice and data benefits for 3 months by paying a lumpsum amount of Rs. 439. This would translate the month cost of the pack to a little over Rs. 146 per month.

However, in this pack too, the unlimited voice calls are limited to 30 mins/day to any network under the Fair Usage Policy (FUP).

These packs are already available across all BSNL circles pan-India and are valid for both new and existing BSNL prepaid subscribers. Those who wish to subscribe to these packs can do so by visiting BSNL channel partners including franchisees, retail distributors, and customer service centres.

Our Verdict

In even we can argue that these are truly unlimited voice calling packs as they should have been, we should also consider they are offering 900 minutes (30 mins per day) of free voice calls along with 300 MB data. This should be more than enough for those minimal internet usage and average voice calling needs.

Also all BSNL subscribers get the benefit of free incoming calls during roaming which is another advantage that they have over the others.
