Tata DOCOMO now holds a record for creating a largest Wi-Fi hotspot by covering an entire stadium using WLAN.

It provided access to about 36,000 fans at Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bengaluru during the recent IPL tournament. Tata DOCOMO had to tie-up with Royal Challengers Bangalore to make this a reality and provide internet access to the audience during the match.

This provided the fans an easy access to the internet for sharing match related updates on social networks. Tata DOCOMO had used a 600 Mbps connection for making sure that all fans get good internet speed.

Its another achievement is related to creating the largest Wi-Fi hotspot during the 2014 Auto Expo. The hotspot covered an area of about 100,000 square feet spanning across 16 halls, dining zones, VIP and media zones, and also across the food court. The backend of such a big achievement consisted of more than 10 kms of fibre, over 220 access points, and many network elements like routers, and extenders.

It is good to know that Tata DOCOMO is trying its best to get the users’ attention and will hopefully improve their quality of service in near future.

Now what strikes my mind is, if Tata DOCOMO can deploy such a large high-speed network, then it can certainly improve its coverage area and signal strength.

It is popular for providing affordable tariff plans and with improved network coverage it will definitely make it to the list of top 3 telecom operators in India.
