Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio is all set to create ripples in the Indian telecom domain again with affordable 4G data plans and cheap 4G devices.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. (RJIL) has quickened up its 4G launch process by setting up the required infrastructure across 880 cities and many small towns in India. With the infrastructure in place, it is now roping in the required staff for providing support and administrative services. RJIL is also making tie-ups with local distributors and retailers for selling their services and 4G devices.
It is widely anticipated that RJIL will launch very affordable 4G data plans (comparable to current 3G internet packs) but besides that Reliance Jio is also planning to launch very affordable 4G devices. The company is already in talks with the Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers like Huawei who specialize in value-for-money gadgets for launching 4G devices at $30 (Rs. 1,900 approx.) in India.
Reliance Jio is the only telecom operator in India to hold BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) spectrum across 22 circles in India. This makes it the largest Indian telco having access to 4G spectrum in the country. RJIL has also been aggressively promoting its 4G services at various events like tech-fests, trade shows, and at cricket matches. The main focus of RJIL in these events is to showcase its high-speed services like video-on-demand, gaming, live TV, etc.
Now, besides holding 2300 MHz band for providing 4G LTE services in India, RJIL has also acquired 1800 MHz band, which is expected to be used for providing voice services along with data on its upcoming 4G network.
5 Million Subscribers in 50 Hours
Reliance Jio has invested close to Rs. 80,00 crore over the last few years on its network infrastructure and its plan to launch 4G devices below Rs. 2,000 can be a huge hit.
Betting on its affordable 4G data plans and cheap 4G devices RJIL is targeting to achieve 5M 4G subscribers within the first 50 hours of its launch. 5 million might be sounding like a huge number to you but let me remind you that we are talking about 5M subscribers from 880 cities and many small towns.
We would suggest that it is time for you to invest in a 4G phone now. After all, Reliance Jio data plans are rumoured to be very cheap.
