We all have been eagerly waiting for the launch of much-touted budget-friendly next generation 4G services from Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio was to launch its 4G network much earlier but failed to do so. But it has been moving fast since the last few months and from what it looks like we might see it launching the TDD-LTE 4G network soon in the country.
Reliance Jio had applied for the pan MSO license for establishing itself as a full-fledged cable company. MSO (Multi System Operator) licence would allow Reliance Jio to run and manage its upcoming cable systems.
And now, Reliance has received the much awaited approval for establishing international gateways in Navi Mumbai and Chennai. These gateways would help Reliance Jio build its data network and has sought permissions for the establishing the same in the recent past. Now that the C-DoT (Centre for Development of Telematics) has approved their request we should expect Reliance Jio to launch its 4G network by the end of January 2015.
Reliance Jio holds pan-India license for providing 4G services through its FDD-LTE 1800 MHz band (across 14 circles) and TDD-LTE 2300 MHz band (across 22 circles).
Reliance Jio would not just be launching a 4G network in India but will launch a host of services like cable TV, broadband, and many more. It is even testing its 100 Mbps broadband across a few select locations in Mumbai.
Like always, there has been no update from Reliance Jio officials about the launch of their much-awaited services but based on the latest news it will indeed launch the 4G network soon. Fingers crossed!
