Idea Cellular, one of the top 3 telecom company in India has recently launched new 2G data plans for its subscribers across the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chattishgarh. It has also announced a different 2G data plan for its subscribers using older Blackberry phones based on BBOS7.
The prepaid subscribers of Idea Cellular across the circles of MP and Chattisgargh can recharge their mobiles with a 1GB 2G data plan for Rs. 178 having a validity of 28 days. Data exceeding 1 GB will be charged at Rs. 4p/10 KB.
This is a very expensive 2G plan but all the major telecom operators across the country are revising their 2G data plans tariffs. The operators say that their revenues from SMS, and voice calling have been hit hard by since the launch of free callings apps, and instant messengers like WhatsApp, WeChat, Line, etc.
The operators proposed that these apps should be charged for monthly usage, but TRAI rejected their proposal stating that their revenues are very decent.
These hike across the 2G data plans across the country are the operators hitting back to the users for not using their services.
Contrary to these hikes in data tariffs, Idea Cellular has launched a new 2G internet pack for its postpaid subscribers across India using BlackBerry OS7 devices. This pack comes in the form of BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) with 2G data allowance of 1GB for period of a month. This annual rental BIS pack will cost Rs. 999, excluding taxes.
Most of the BlackBerry users have moved on to other platforms for getting for more features and frequent OS updates. This attractive 2G data plan might be the result of some agreement between BlackBerry and Idea Cellular.
This pack will not only benefit normal consumers but also to people using BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), BES Express, BES 10, BlackBerry Balance, and Enterprise Instant Messaging services.
For activating this pack on your postpaid BBOS 7 device SMS “ACT999ARP” to 12345.
