As the launch date of Reliance Jio 4G is nearing, something else besides our heartbeat is getting faster and faster. And that is the launch of 4G from its rivals. Aircel had launched 4G in Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar about half a year back.

And now Airtel is doing is doing all it can to launch its 4G services ahead of pan-India launch by Reliance Jio. Doing so will not only give it the advantage of being an incumbent player but it also gives it slightly better chances of acquiring more customers than Reliance Jio, if the latter decides to price its 4G data tariffs outrageously high.

AirTel Signs A Deal with Nokia Networks

AirTel has also inked a deal with Nokia Network for launching its FDD-LTE network in 6 telecom circles (Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and North East including 7 states) across the country. This would be the first FDD-LTE deployment in the country. AirTel currently offers 4G via TDD-LTE (2.3 GHz Band #40) across the cities of Bangalore, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Pune, Nagpur, Vasai, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Mohali, Panchkula, Patiala, and  Phagwara.

With this deal, AirTel plans to start rolling out its 4G services in these 6 circles starting Dec 2015. We are very sure that Reliance Jio will launch its 4G network well before that but I’d like to keep my fingers crossed.

AirTel Asks Customers To Upgrade Their SIMsairtel 4g hyderabad SIM upgrade itn

AirTel might also launch its 4G services in Hyderabad soon. What gives this news more credibility is the fact that AirTel is sending out text messages to its subscribers in Hyderabad for upgrading to a 4G SIM. The SIM would be done at no extra cost. This only means one thing…Hyderabad is very close to receiving its first 4G network. It might just be matter of a few short weeks before you would be able to use the next generation wireless broadband services in Hyderabad.

Visit this page to get an idea about the 4G data tariff plans offered by AirTel. I’m hoping that they come out with even better data plans for giving a tough edge to the competition. There is no harm in being hopeful, right?

So, if you stay in Hyderabad then you should consider investing in a good Android 4G phone.
