Amid this season of increasing data tariff and price wars among the telecom operators in the country, Tata Docomo has planned to launch new postpaid plans in Karnataka.

These new postpaid plans bundle 3G data along with free voice calling and local and national SMSs in some plans.

These newly announced postpaid plans start from Rs. 350/month and go up till Rs. 1299 per month.

Let’s discuss all these plans in details and see if they are really worth their month subscription cost.

The Rs. 350 monthly plan is aimed at moderate users who use 3G along with local as well as STD calling also with quite a few local and national SMSs. The plan offers 30,000 (local & national seconds) along with unlimited 3G data (1 GB @ 3G speed, post that unlimited at throttled speeds), and 350 SMSs (local + national).

The mid-level Rs. 899 plan offers unlimited local calling along with 3G data (2GB @ 3G speed, unlimited post that at throttled speeds). However, this plan doesn’t come with any SMSs, but unlimited local calls + 3G data are too good for anyone running a local business.

Another postpaid plan will be available at Rs. 1,299/month and is aimed at heavy users. The plan offers unlimited local and national calling plus unlimited data (2GB @ 3G speed, unlimited data after that at throttled speeds). This plan also offers the subscribers free national on-net national roaming. This means that you won’t be charge for receiving and making calls while roaming as long as you’re on Tata Docomo network. You would also get 3,000 SMSs (local+ national) with this pack, but will be charged for them if you send any SMS while roaming.

Are These Plans Worth The Money?

There was a time when postpaid plans offered the best value for money, but they don’t offer it anymore. So, we wanted to check if these plans are actually worth subscribing to.

Docomo offers 1 GB 3G data in Karnataka @ Rs. 175 for 30 days for prepaid plans. Its base voice tariff is fixed at 2p/sec. So with that estimation in mind, you’ll get more than what you pay for.

So, just go ahead and subscribe to these plans without thinking twice, if these plans match your requirements.
